Bhawanipatna, Sept 30: In another such incident, an elephant was found trapped in a ditch on the Paralsinga-Sanarapada roadside under the Kesinga forest range area in Kalahandi district on Monday morning. 

It is also marked that the jumbo failed to come out despite repeated attempts. The animal is suspected to fall into the ditch after it parted ways from a herd. A herd comprising about 30 herds has been moving and ransacking properties in the area for the last few days.    

The pachyderms have already destroyed paddy and cotton crops on acres of land. 

Forest and fire service teams have reached the area and started a rescue operation.
