Dharmendra Pradhan Interacts With Scholars Of 5 Newly Classified Classical Languages

New Delhi, Oct 18: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan interacted with scholars of the five newly-classified classical languages--Pali, Prakrit, Marathi, Bengali and Assamese—in New Delhi on Friday.

In a post on X, Pradhan said, “The scholars expressed their happiness and thanked PM Modi for including these beautiful Indian languages into the list of classical languages. They also extended their support towards promoting and enriching them.”

The Narendra Modi government is taking all steps to strengthen and facilitate learning in all Indian languages, he added saying that the government is also making all-round efforts to promote learning in Indian languages, as well as to celebrate, honour, and preserve the linguistic heritage of the country.

“Our languages are the soul of ‘Bharatiyata’. Government led by PM @narendramodi ji is making all-round efforts to promote learning in Indian languages as well as celebrate, honour and preserve our linguistic heritage in line with the spirit of NEP 2020,” his post on X reads.

“We remain committed to facilitate learning in mother language, boost multilingualism with equal emphasis on all Indian languages, including strengthening their international presence,” he said.

The Chairman of the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, Chamu Krishna Shastry, and UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar, along with academicians, scholars, and officials of the Education Ministry, were, among others, present on the occasion.
