Commissionerate Police Launches 'Operation Tribhuj' To Manage Traffic At Durga Puja Pandals

Bhubaneswar, Oct 12: In a bid to manage traffic and crowd and prevent thefts at pandals during ongoing Durga Puja, the Twin CIty Commissionerate Police Friday launched a project, named 'Operation Tribhuj'.

Briefing about the initiative, S Dev Datta Singh, Commissioner of Police, said that the project includes 1,000 CCTV surveillance systems, drone cameras and police personnel to effectively manage the crowd and traffic as well as prevent crimes at the Durga Puja pandals.

S Dev Datta Singh said that extra police personnel will be deployed in the pandals, those attract more crowds compared to other pandals.

Speaking to media persons, DCP Pinak Mishra said that the police personnel will be keeping tabs on these things 24x7 from control room.

"Our team will be alert for quick response to emergency calls. Crowd management, traffic regulation and vigilance on thieves, pickpockets and snatchers will be our prime focus,” stated Pinak Mishra. 

He also said that, if the 'Operation Tribhuj' succeeds, then it will be implemented on a larger scale during major events and festivals.

'Shakti Bahini' Introduced

The 'Operation Tribhuj' followed the introduction of 'Shakti Bahini'.

'Shakti Bahini' is an initiative which sees a special patrolling team consists of 40 women police personnel to ensure safety of women and children during the ongoing Durga Puja in the Capital City.

The 40 members of the special team have been given 20 bikes to help them do their jobs smoothly. The ‘Shakti Bahini’ initiative was flagged off by S Dev Datta Singh. 

According to the Commissionerate Police, the special team will focus on women and children indulged in snatching and thefts during Durga Puja. 

Police have said that the patrolling teams will be deployed near Durga Puja pandals as well as near crowded places in Bhubaneswar. In addition, the Commissionerate Police has urged the people to "help and cooperate the police" for a smooth Durga Puja festival.
