Udala, Jun 13: A man was killed and two motorcycle riders sustained serious injuries after a speeding bike carrying three youths rammed into him while he was sitting beside a road outside his house in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, a source said.

The accident took place at Pagdandiya village under Kaptipada police station limits on Saturday afternoon.

Victim Run Over While Sitting Outside Home
According to the source, Sukuram Singh was sitting by the roadside in front of his house when a motorcycle carrying three youths approached at high speed from the Podadiha village.

The rider allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing the motorcycle to crash into Sukuram. The impact threw all three riders off the bike, leaving them injured. Sukuram also sustained critical injuries in the collision.

One Declared Dead At Hospital
Following the accident, locals rushed the injured persons to Udala Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared Sukuram dead on arrival.

Two Riders Undergoing Treatment
Among the three motorcycle riders, one reportedly fled the scene after the crash.

The two injured riders have been identified as Ratan Mankidia and Karan Singh from Damasahi village. Both are undergoing treatment at Udala Medical Centre and are stated to be in critical condition.

Police Begin Investigation
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and launched an investigation.

It is yet to be ascertained the exact circumstances leading to the crash, including whether overspeeding and triple-riding contributed to the fatal accident. The identity of the third rider who fled the scene is also being verified.
