Lucknow, Jun 22: At least 15 people lost their lives after a massive fire engulfed a threestorey building housing a coaching centre in the Aliganj area of northwest Lucknow on Monday.

The blaze, which raged for over an hour, left several trapped inside and forced some students to leap from the first floor in desperate attempts to escape.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak visited the site to oversee rescue operations and assure families of government support.

“It’s a threestorey building. The fire broke out on the top floor and spread quickly. Some windows were shattered during rescue efforts,” said one witness.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families and directed officials to provide immediate assistance and maintain close contact with those affected.

While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, the incident has raised serious concerns about fire safety measures in commercial buildings across the city.
