Air India Flight 171
On June 12, 2025, India witnessed one of its deadliest
aviation tragedies when Air India Flight 171 crashed just 32 seconds after
taking off from Ahmedabad on its way to London. The Boeing Dreamliner lost
power mid-air and plummeted into the hostel block of B.J. Medical College. The
disaster claimed 241 of the 242 passengers, including former Gujarat Chief
Minister Vijay Rupani, as well as 19 lives on the ground, leaving the nation in
shock and mourning.

Pune Bridge Collapse
In Pune, Maharashtra, tragedy struck when a bridge over the Indrayani River collapsed, sending vehicles and people into the water below. The incident occurred around 3:30 pm in the Kundamala area, where nearly 100 people had gathered on the bridge. The ageing iron structure, weakened by years of neglect, gave way due to structural fatigue, leaving 4 dead and 50 injured.
Gulzar Houz Fire
In May 2025, a devastating fire erupted in a building near Hyderabad’s iconic Charminar after a short circuit in a pearl shop triggered a blaze. The tragedy claimed 17 lives, including 8 children from one family. Narrow stairways, poor ventilation, and unsafe electrical alterations intensified the disaster.
Gujarat Factory Fire
On April 1, 2025, a deadly fire engulfed the Deepak Fatakda fireworks warehouse in Deesa, Gujarat, killing 21 of the 24 people inside. The facility had been operating despite its license having expired the previous year. Fire officials later reported the absence of emergency exits and safety equipment, factors that worsened the tragedy.

✨On January 22, 2025, panic sparked by a fire rumour aboard the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express near Pachora in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district led passengers to leap onto the railway tracks. Tragically, several were struck by the oncoming Karnataka Express, resulting in 13 deaths, including 9 men and 4 women.
Goa Night Club Fire
On December 6, a devastating fire at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Goa claimed 25 lives, including five tourists and 20 staff members. The blaze broke out around midnight, with overcrowding and blocked exits trapping partygoers inside. Investigators suspect indoor pyrotechnics triggered the tragedy.
Gambhira Bridge Collapse
On July 9, 2025, the Gambhira Bridge in Padra, Gujarat, collapsed, sending vehicles plunging into the Mahisagar River. Built in 1985, the ageing concrete structure had suffered from poor maintenance, heavy monsoon rains, and overloaded traffic. The tragedy claimed 22 lives.
Chattisgarh Train Accident
A passenger train, traveling between Gevra and Bilaspur, collided with a stationary goods train after a signalling failure. The crash left at least 11 people dead and injured more than 20 others.
Cuttack Balcony Collapse
In Cuttack, Odisha, tragedy struck when the balcony of an old building near Hadi Bandhu School at Mani Sahu Chhak collapsed during the evening, killing three members of a family below. The incident has heightened concerns over unsafe residential structures in urban areas.
Hassan District Truck Accident
On September 12, 2025, tragedy struck Mosale Hosahalli village in Karnataka’s Hassan district when a truck ploughed into a Ganesh Chaturthi gathering. The accident claimed 10 lives and left 22 others, including the driver, injured.
