New Delhi, June 3: A massive fire broke out at the multi-storey Lemon Green Restaurant in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Wednesday morning, sparking panic in the area. Officials confirmed that 20 lives were lost and several casualities were reported, 37 have been rescued and taken to hospital for treatment. While search operations for others are still underway.


According to the Delhi Fire Service, ten fire tenders were immediately dispatched after receiving the distress call. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control within hours, preventing it from spreading to adjacent structures. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. And Authorities have not yet confirmed the nationalities of those rescuedThis incident comes just a day after another tragedy in Delhi’s Mukundpur area, where ten people were injured following a suspected LPG cylinder explosion that led to the collapse of a single-storey building. The Delhi Fire Service received a call around 9:37 a.m. reporting the blast, which destroyed a utensil polishing facility spread across 250 square yards. Five fire tenders were rushed to the site, and rescue teams worked to pull survivors from the debris.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief, announced ₹2 lakh ex‑gratia for families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured, and assured all possible assistance. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also mourned the tragedy, noting that swift action by fire services, police, and disaster teams helped rescue many trapped guests. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide medical support to the injured.

Officials said preliminary investigations point to an LPG cylinder explosion as the likely cause of the Mukundpur collapse, though the exact reason is still under review. The blast was powerful enough to bring down the entire structure, leaving several workers injured.

Fire officials have urged building owners to ensure compliance with fire safety norms and maintain emergency equipment to prevent such disasters. Rescue operations in Malviya Nagar are ongoing, and further updates are awaited.
