Mumbai, Dec 7: Music composer Palash Muchhal on Sunday announced that he will take strict legal action against individuals spreading false and defamatory content about him, following his breakup with Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana.

The couple’s wedding, originally scheduled for November 23, was postponed, and soon after rumours regarding the relationship began circulating online.

In recent weeks, social media was flooded with allegations suggesting that Palash had cheated on Smriti. Addressing these claims for the first time, Palash clarified that the rumours were entirely baseless. “I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship. It has been very difficult for me to see people react so easily to baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me,” he wrote in a statement posted online.

Palash further urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified gossip, highlighting the impact of careless words. “I truly hope we, as a society, learn to pause before judging someone based on unverified gossip, whose sources are never identified. Our words can wound in ways we may never understand, and while we think about these things, many people in the world are facing drastic consequences,” he added.

The singer confirmed that his team will pursue legal measures against those circulating defamatory content. He also thanked fans and well-wishers who have supported him during this difficult time, emphasising that he intends to handle the situation “gracefully” while maintaining his principles.

This marks Palash Muchhal’s first public response to the speculation surrounding his split with Smriti Mandhana.

Earlier on Sunday, Smriti Mandhana issued a public statement and confirmed that her wedding with music Mucchal has been called off.
