Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: A fresh cyclonic circulation has formed over the northeast Bay of Bengal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The system is expected to intensify into a low-pressure area within the next 24 hours.
The IMD’s latest bulletin indicates that the circulation extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level and is tilting southwestward with height. Under the influence, widespread rain is expexted across the state for the next five days.
Five southern districts- Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri, are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in the next 24 hours.
An orange warning has been issued for Koraput and Malkangiri districts as very heavy rainfall is expected today.

✨Similarly, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Nuapada districts are under a yellow warning, with the possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorm activity.
