Vigilance Trap / Odisha Vigilance Nabs Police ASI In Rs 40,000 Bribery Case

Koraput, Oct 28: In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended Narasingha Dora, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police at B.Singhpur Police Station in Koraput district, along with a private individual, Sunadhara Amanatya, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000.
According to the Vigilance department, the bribe was solicited from a complainant in connection with a domestic violence case under investigation by ASI Dora.
Dora had threatened the complainant with severe action
unless the demanded amount was paid. Unable to meet the demand, the complainant
approached Odisha Vigilance, leading to a sting operation.

A team of Vigilance officials caught Dora and Amanatya red-handed while accepting the bribe. The entire tainted money was recovered and seized on the spot. Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations linked to ASI Dora to investigate disproportionate assets (DA).
Koraput Vigilance Police Station has registered Case No. 33/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is currently underway to uncover further details and potential links to other cases.
