Argus News - Odisha Mourns Humane Sagar as Allegations Surface

Bhubaneswar, Nov 18: Odisha’s music fraternity was plunged into grief on Monday night as popular playback singer Humane Sagar passed away at AIIMS Bhubaneswar at 9:08 pm while undergoing treatment.

Known as the “Arijit Singh of Odisha,” the 34-year-old singer left behind a legacy of romantic and soulful songs that captured the hearts of millions.

Following his death, tension gripped the AIIMS premises as family members and supporters gathered. His mother, Shefali Suna, was inconsolable and alleged that her son’s deteriorating health and eventual death were linked to negligence and exploitation.

She claimed that despite being unwell, Humane was forced to perform in stage shows, which worsened his condition. Shefali openly blamed several individuals, including his manager and show organizers.

Shefali further stated that her son had been battling depression for the past two to three months and had withdrawn from public appearances. “Humane was betrayed. My son was killed,” she said, holding multiple people accountable for his untimely demise.

However, colleagues and associates of the singer refuted these allegations. They maintained that Humane was recovering after treatment adding that, according to doctors, Humane had not been consistent in taking prescribed medicines at home. Doctors had indicated that his health required strict adherence to medication.

The shocking claims by his mother have left fans and supporters stunned, adding a layer of controversy to the tragic loss. Humane Sagar’s death has created a void in Odia music, where he was celebrated for his versatility across romantic, sad, devotional, and pop songs.

Born on November 25, 1990, in Titilagarh, Balangir district, Humane hailed from a musically inclined family. He began singing at a young age, winning awards at school, college, and state-level competitions. His powerful voice brought him into the limelight during his college years, eventually making him one of Odisha’s most beloved singers.
