PM Modi inaugurates national event; Odisha hosts state-level programme.

Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday hailed Vande Mataram as more than just a song, calling it a timeless symbol of patriotism, sacrifice, and valour. He was speaking at the state-level inauguration of the year-long celebration marking the 150th anniversary of India’s national song.

Addressing the gathering at Lok Seva Bhawan, CM Majhi said, “Vande Mataram is not just a song; it is a symbol of patriotism, sacrifice, and valour. Originating from Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel Anand Math, this song inspired awakening, enthusiasm, and a revolutionary spirit during the freedom struggle.”

CM Majhi emphasized the song’s historical significance, recalling how colonial rulers had once banned it due to its powerful influence on the masses. “That ban itself is proof of the song’s power,” he noted.

The Chief Minister extended heartfelt congratulations to all citizens on this historic occasion, describing it as a moment of pride that 150 years ago, on November 7, 1875, Bankim Chandra composed a song that would become the soul of India’s independence movement.

Highlighting the importance of the year-long commemoration, CM Majhi said the initiative aims to instill a deep sense of patriotism among youth, children, and students. He urged everyone to actively participate in the upcoming events to spread the pride and glory of Mother India across the globe.

The programme was inaugurated nationally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from New Delhi and was followed by a mass singing of Vande Mataram across the country. In Bhubaneswar, CM Majhi and other dignitaries joined the chorus, creating a moment of unity and national pride.

“No matter our language, religion, or region, a nation cannot progress without patriotism. Vande Mataram rekindles that flame of love for the nation within our hearts,” the Chief Minister concluded.
