Nuapada, Nov 12: The Nuapada Assembly by-election has set a new benchmark in voter participation, with the Election Commission of India (ECI) confirming a record turnout of 83.45%.
The polling, held peacefully, saw an enthusiastic response from voters, especially women, who outnumbered men in casting their votes.
According to ECI officials, the polling was conducted
smoothly with elaborate arrangements in place to ensure security and
transparency. The fate of 14 candidates contesting the by-election has now been
sealed in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), which are securely stored under
surveillance until counting day on November 14.
