Key Points

A pregnant woman in Odisha's Koraput district gave birth to a baby girl while being carried on a cot to the hospital on Friday.

Koraput, June 27: In a heart-wrenching incident that highlights the dire state of rural infrastructure in Odisha, a pregnant woman from Kusumbota village under Kebidi Panchayat in Koraput’s Jeypore block gave birth to a baby girl while being carried on a cot to the hospital on Friday.

The woman, identified as Raili Muduli, wife of Trinath Muduli, went into labor amid heavy rainfall and treacherous terrain. With no motorable road to the village, her family and neighbors had no choice but to carry her on a makeshift cot through dense forest paths, slippery hills, and gushing streams. After covering nearly five kilometers, she delivered the baby midway to the hospital.
