Polling parties are scheduled to reach their respective booths by Monday evening. The Election Commission has reiterated that the silent period is crucial to allow voters to make independent decisions, free from political influence or inducement.
Under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, no public meetings, processions, or media broadcasts related to the election are allowed during this time. Political advertisements via cinema, television, or similar platforms are strictly prohibited. Cultural or entertainment programmes aimed at influencing voters are also banned.
