Keonjhar, Feb 13: The mineral-rich district of Keonjhar is set to witness a major industrial transformation as Chief Minister Mohan CharanMajhiwill lay the foundation stone on Saturday for two landmark projects — a garment manufacturing unit and a state-of-the-art data centre.
The garment industry project, backed by an investment of ₹100 crore, will provide direct employment opportunities to 1,200 trained youth from the district. These young men and women, skilled in tailoring and garment production, will now have the chance to work with branded apparel companies.
To facilitate this, the district administration has
allocated 12 acres of land, with the first phase already securing 6.61 acres at
Balabhadrapur. This initiative is expected to boost local employment, empower
rural youth, and position Keonjhar as a new hub for apparel manufacturing in
Odisha.

Alongside, a cutting-edge data centre will be established at Dharanidhar University’s North Campus by OKAC, with an investment of ₹187 crore. The facility will generate 5 MW of power and incorporate advanced cyber security, AI-driven safety mechanisms, disaster recovery, and data restoration systems.

Earlier, during his visit to Nabarangpur district, CM Majhi Friday inaugurated the government’s new scheme “Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana” at a public meeting held at the newly developed Mandei Padia in Hirli.
On the same occasion, he laid the foundation stone for a new government medical college to be built on 50 acres and 54 decimals of land at Padalaguda Mouza.
Additionally, the Odisha Chief Minister also inaugurated and
laid the foundation stones for various developmental projects across different
departments in the district. The combined investment for these projects amounts
to ₹446 crore and 26 lakh.
