Nuapada, Nov 2: In a politically charged statement, BJP nominee Jay Dholakia on Sunday accused the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) of ignoring his late father Rajendra Dholakia, who was a sitting MLA from Nuapada, during his prolonged illness. The remarks have stirred controversy ahead of the upcoming elections in Odisha.

Jay Dholakia, who is contesting from Nuapada on a BJP ticket, claimed that despite his father’s contributions to the BJD and the constituency, the party failed to offer support or acknowledgment during his final days. “The party he served turned its back when he needed them most,” Dholakia said, adding that the incident deeply influenced his decision to join the BJP.

Emotional Appeal and Political Undertone

Dholakia’s statement is being seen as both a personal grievance and a strategic move to connect with voters on emotional grounds. His father, a respected figure in Nuapada, had served as a BJD legislator and was known for his grassroots work.
