Jajpur, Jul 22: In a disturbing case from Jajpur, Odisha, the mother of a minor rape victim has come forward with shocking details, demanding justice for her daughter.
The incident, which allegedly took place on July 3, 2025, involves three coaches - Sandeep Swain, Sarthak Mohanty, and Sagar Kumar Nayak- accused of sexually assaulting the minor.
According to the victim’s mother, one of the accused had been visiting their home for six months, raising suspicions. Despite her explicit instructions to her daughter to avoid interacting with the coach outside of training, the minor, a budding hockey player, was allegedly targeted during her training sessions.
The mother revealed that she had informed the authorities about the incident, hoping for accountability. However, no action was taken at the time. “We had informed the local sports authorities about the matter. The authorities assured us to take it up with the internal complaints committee. However, no action was taken,” she claimed.

On July 7, the victim travelled to Bhubaneswar for a match, and upon her return, a formal written complaint was filed against the coach on July 16.
The situation escalated when the victim’s mother approached the Jajpur Town police station, leading to the arrest of three individuals and subsequently forwarded to court.
The victim’s mother, resolute in her pursuit of justice, emphasised that her daughter’s ordeal must not go unpunished. The police are currently investigating the case, with preliminary reports suggesting that the detained individuals are being questioned to uncover the full extent of the crime.
