Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the formation of a cyclonic system over the central Bay of Bengal around October 7, which is expected to bring widespread rainfall across Odisha from October 7 to 12.
The system may intensify into a low-pressure area or a cyclonic circulation, significantly impacting northern and coastal districts of the state.
Adding to the alert, another low-pressure system is likely to develop over the northern Bay of Bengal around October 9. The IMD has predicted that under the influence of these systems, Odisha will experience cloudy skies and light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the next four days.

A yellow warning has been issued for 20 districts, including Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda. These districts are likely to witness intense rainfall and lightning activity within the next 24 hours.
The IMD has advised residents to remain cautious and avoid
outdoor activities during thunderstorms. Authorities have been alerted to
prepare for possible waterlogging and disruption in daily life due to heavy
showers.
