Sambalpur, Nov 25: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan led thousands in a spirited ‘Ekta Padayatra’ (Unity March) here in Odisha on Tuesday to mark Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary. Paying tribute to Patel’s legacy, Pradhan emphasized the responsibilities citizens must shoulder to build a cleaner, healthier, and more prosperous Sambalpur.

Pradhan urged residents to take greater responsibility in transforming Sambalpur into a clean and healthy environment, stressing that civic participation is vital for sustainable urban development. He highlighted the need for collective action to ensure the city’s growth aligns with the vision of a developed Odisha and India.
Nutrition and Child Care
The Minister underscored the importance of nutrition in
rural areas, calling for special attention to newborns and children. He said
that prioritizing child health and care is essential for building a stronger
foundation for the state’s future.

Pradhan also called for promotion of sports and development of sports infrastructure in Sambalpur. He noted that encouraging youth participation in athletics would not only strengthen community spirit but also contribute to the holistic development of the region.

Highlighting Sambalpur’s population, Pradhan said work must be done to enhance the courage, dignity, and self-reliance of nearly 200,000 families living in the city. He linked this empowerment to the broader vision of “Developed Sambalpur, Developed Odisha, and Developed India.”

Pradhan praised Sardar Patel’s courage, political will, and decisive leadership, noting that his contributions laid the foundation for India’s unity and progress. He reminded that while India’s ancestors fought for Swaraj, today’s citizens must fight for prosperity.
