Calamity / Cyclone ‘Montha’ Delay Prompts Restoration of 14 Cancelled Trains

Bhubaneswar, Oct 27: In a welcome development for
passengers, the East Coast Railway on Monday announced the restoration of 14
previously cancelled trains following a delay in Cyclone ‘Montha’s landfall,
officials said.
The decision was made after consultations with South Central
Railway and a reassessment of weather conditions along the Andhra Pradesh
coast, they added.
Earlier, the East Coast Railway has cancelled 43 trains in view of cyclone ‘Montha’, which is likely to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast on Tuesday.
The restored services, originally suspended for safety
reasons, will now operate as per their scheduled departure dates. These include
key express and passenger trains connecting Visakhapatnam to Tirupati,
Hyderabad, Guntur, Machilipatnam, Mahabubnagar, Chennai, Secunderabad, New
Delhi, and Mumbai.

Public Advisory
Railway authorities have urged passengers to check updated schedules via official portals and station notice boards. Frequent announcements are being made through PA systems, and bulk SMS alerts are being issued to ensure public convenience.
The restoration comes as a relief to thousands of travelers, especially during the festive season, and reflects the railway’s agile response to evolving weather forecasts.
Cyclone ‘Montha’
The cyclone is expected to make landfall near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday night with 90-110 kmph winds and heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across multiple districts in Andhra and Odisha.
