Cuttack, Aug 19: Police have arrested an autorickshaw driver on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl and allegedly threatening to set her on fire. The incident has been reported from Odisha's Cuttack district.

Although the incident occurred on August 8, a complaint regarding the incident was filed last week after the girl informed her family.

According to the complaint, the minor girl along with her friend was travelling from Jagatpur to Badambadi in an autorickshaw. As they approached the Shikharpur area, the girl asked the auto driver if he had any water. Upon his refusal, she and her friend requested him to stop the vehicle. Her friend then stepped out to search for water nearby.

During this time, the auto driver tried to sexually assault her inside the vehicle by touching her inappropriately, the complaint read.

When she resisted, the accused allegedly threatened to douse her with petrol and "burn her alive".

Based on the complaint, police arrested the accused and took him into custody.
