New Delhi, Sep 25: In a strategic move ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda on Thursday appointed senior leader and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as the party’s election in-charge for the state.

Bihar Assembly elections are expected to be held later this year, likely in October or November.

Dharmendra Pradhan- A Seasoned Strategist

Union Minister Pradhan is no stranger to election management. He previously served as BJP’s election incharge for Bihar during the 2020 Assembly elections, where the party performed strongly as part of the NDA alliance. His deep understanding of the state’s political landscape and grassroots mobilization has earned him the reputation of a reliable strategist.

Pradhan also played a pivotal role in Uttar Pradesh during the 2017 Assembly elections, contributing to BJP’s sweeping victory. His involvement in election campaigns in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh further highlights his pan-India experience in steering complex political battles.

The BJP leader’s strategic brilliance was instrumental in Suvendu Adhikari’s landmark victory in Nandigram, defeating Mamata Banerjee in 2021 West Bengal polls.

Architect of BJP’s Odisha Win

Minister Pradhan’s grassroots organizational acumen proved pivotal in BJP’s historic victory in Odisha, ending BJD’s 24-year rule in the 2024 elections, and helping the party secure 20 Lok Sabha seats from the state. Since 2014, Pradhan has tirelessly strengthened BJP’s core wings, creating a robust cadre base in the state. His strategic groundwork and mass connection have transformed Odisha into a key BJP stronghold.

Support Team: CR Patil and Keshav Prasad Maurya

Joining Pradhan in the Bihar campaign are CR Patil, BJP Gujarat President known for his organizational acumen, and Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Their inclusion signals BJP’s intent to deploy a robust leadership team to consolidate its position in Bihar.

Key Appointments In West Bengal And Tamil Nadu

The BJP president also appointed Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav as election in-charge for West Bengal, which heads to the polls in 2026. Biplab Kumar Deb has been appointed as party’s co-in-charge for West Bengal.

Similarly, Lok Sabha MP Baijayant Panda has been appointed as election in-charge for Tamil Nadu, which is set for polls next year. Minister Murlidhar Mohol will assist him. Panda’s prior role in Delhi’s 2024 campaign signals BJP’s push to expand its influence in southern India.
