The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) on Thursday declared the results of the Class 12 examination, 2024. A total of 2,73,908 students appeared in this year's examination and 2,42,794 students have passed, AHSEC said.

Guwahati, May 9: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) on Thursday declared the results of the Class 12 examination, 2024. A total of 2,73,908 students appeared in this year's examination and 2,42,794 students have passed, AHSEC said.

This year, 88.24 percent of students have passed in the Arts stream, 90.29 percent of students passed in the Science stream, 88.28 percent of students passed in the Commerce stream and 85.78 percent of students passed in the Vocational stream.

According to the AHSEC, a total of 2,73,908 students appeared in this year's examination and 2,42,794 students have passed.
According to the results declared by AHSEC, 177434 students have passed in the Arts stream, 49256 students passed in the Science stream, 15356 students passed in the Commerce stream and 748 students passed in the Vocational stream.

On the other hand, in the Arts stream, 41133 students passed by getting 60 percent and above marks while 25437 students passed with 60 percent and above marks in the Science stream, 6192 students in the Commerce stream, and 163 students in the Vocational stream.

In 2023, the pass percentage was 70.12 percent in the Arts stream, 84.96 percent in the Science stream, and 79.57 percent in the Commerce stream.

New Delhi, May 20: The fifth phase of polling for Lok Sabha polls on May 20 across 49 parliamentary constituencies spread over six states and two Union Territories (UTs) saw a voter turnout of 23.66 per cent till 11 am, the Election Commission (ECI) said on Monday.

While Bihar recorded a 21.11 per cent voter turnout, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 21.37 per cent, Jharkhand 26.18 per cent, Ladakh 27.87 per cent, Maharashtra 15.93 per cent Odisha 21.07 per cent and West Bengal 32.70 per cent, the poll body said.

As per the ECI, over 8.95 crore voters, including 4.69 crore males, 4.26 crore females, and 5409 third-gender electors, will decide the fate of 695 candidates in the fifth phase of voting. The fifth phase is witnessing key contests in various constituencies.

Leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Piyush Goyal, Ujjwal Nikam, Karan Bhushan Singh, LJP (Ramvilas) chief Chirag Paswan, JKNC chief Omar Abdullah, and RJD leader Rohini Acharya are looking for electoral success.

The eight states/UTs polling in phase 5 are Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

Cities like Mumbai, Thane, and Lucknow are polling in this phase, which has in the past suffered from urban apathy in voting. Of the 49 Lok Sabha seats, 14 are from Uttar Pradesh, 13 from Maharashtra, 7 from West Bengal, 5 from Bihar, 3 from Jharkhand, 5 from Odisha, and one each from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

In a bid to create a peaceful atmosphere for the electors, a total of 2,000 flying squads, 2105 static surveillance teams, 881 video surveillance teams, and 502 video viewing teams are keeping surveillance round the clock across the 94,732 polling stations.

A total of 216 international border check posts and 565 inter-state border check posts are keeping a strict vigil on any illicit flow of liquor, drugs, cash, and freebies. Strict surveillance has been kept on sea and air routes, the ECI said.

Angul, May 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday severely criticized the BJD government for turning Odisha into a poor state despite being in power for 25 years.

Addressing a massive Vijay Sankalpa Samavesh at Biju Patnaik Stadium here, Modi urged people to elect BJP Lok Sabha and Assembly candidates and form a double-engine government in Odisha for expeditious development.

Initiating his speech in Odia with 'Jay Jagannath' and 'Jay Shree Ram', the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to those who brought paintings, books and other gifts for him. He said the love of Odisha people enhances his strength and energy further.

"You have brought so many paintings and gifts for me. You have expressed your love in these articles. I am very thankful to you," the Prime Minister said. He hailed Odisha as the land of art.

Stating that he returned from Puri paying obeisance to Lord Jagannath, the Prime minister said the Jagannath Temple is not safe under the BJD regime.

"Ratna Bhandar's keys have been lost for the last six years. For this, people the BJD government and people who have made the CM office captive are responsible," he alleged.

He said the BJP government will bring all those to the fore and find out the lost keys after it comes to power.

He said farmers suffered a lot and youth were going to other States in search of jobs even though the BJD ruled the State for 25 years.

"In 25 years, BJD people have been crorepati. But farmers have not grown economically. Youths are going outside the State in search of work," alleged Modi.

He resented that the tribals in Odisha were the worst sufferers in Odisha.

"Odisha is rich in mines and minerals and other natural resources. But people are leading miserable lives because of the corrupt BJD government," he said.

Claiming that his government has provided Rs 26,000 crore to the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) in Odisha, the Prime Minister said the BJD government has looted away the funds meant for the construction of schools and roads in districts where mining activities are taking place.

Modi alleged that the BJD government didn't even procure forest products at MSP set by the Central government.

He reminded the people that the BJP government would buy paddy at MSP of Rs 3,100 per quintal from farmers and pay through bank accounts within 48 hours of procurement.

The Prime Minister asked the people if they remember the date of the BJP Chief Minister taking oath in Odisha. The people answered with 'June 10.

"I have also come to invite you to the oath-taking ceremony of the BJP Chief Minister," said the Prime Minister.
He said Odisha would see a double-engine government and expeditious development for the first time after June 4.

Dhenkanal, May 20: Lashing out at ruling Biju Janata Dal led by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that a double double-engine government is going to be formed for the first time in non-BJP ruled state.

Seeking votes for the BJP candidate Sambit Patra for Puri Lok Sabha seat, "Ghar-ghar se ek hi awaaj aa rahi hai - Odisha me pehali baar double engine ki sarkar' (A voice is coming from every house that for the first time, there is going to be a double-engine government in Odisha...) Today the entire Odisha is thinking that they have given 25 years to the BJD govt but what they have got in these years?..."

PM Modi added," Today, polling is underway for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections. Voters are turning up at polling booths in large numbers to cast their votes. I appeal to voters and especially first-time voters to exercise their franchise".

PM Modi was speaking at a public meeting in Odisha's Dhenkanal.

Appealing to people to come out and exercise their franchise, PM Modi added, "Those who doubt whether I should go out and vote amid the (scorching) heat.. In this gathering, I am looking at a wheel-chaired youth. What could be a bigger inspiration than this".

"'Mai Gujarat se aaya hun, mai Somnath ki dharti se aaya hun, mai Jagannath ki dharti ko pranam karne aaya hun' (I have come from Gujarat, from the land of Somnath to pay respect to the land of Jagannath)...," PM Modi added.
