The Assembly tradition has it that newly elected MLAs are trained about their participation in debates and rules of conduct of business of the House. This time, a whopping 87 new MLAs have been elected. They need to be trained, said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling.
He said senior Lok Sabha Members will participate in the two-day orientation programme.
Meanwhile, BJD leaders have said they would not joing the programme.
Stating that Assembly Speaker Surama Padhi has already talked to the Leader of Opposition, the Minister said the BJD's arrogance will deprive its new MLAs of getting training. Many BJD MLAs also want to learn about the conduct of the business of the Assembly," said Mahaling.
He said the training programme will be held in the Assembly premises on August 17 and 18.
