Amarendra has sent his resignation letter to the BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. He quit the party after MLA Prasant Muduli was given a party ticket again for the Jagatsingpur Assembly seat yesterday. Muduli's name was figured in the second list of candidates announced for 27 Assembly and five Lok Sabha seats by the party supremo yesterday.
Notably, though Amarendra had aspired to fight the election for the Jagatsinghpur assembly segment on a BJD ticket in 2019, he was denied a ticket then. He was appeased with an important post then.
As Muduli, a resident of the Balikuda-Ersama area, was given a ticket for the second consecutive time, Amarendra protested and resigned from the seat.
Sources said he is likely to join the Bharatiay Janata Party in next few days.
In a similar development, Balasore district's Soro MLA Parshuram Dhada also resgined from the party.
