New Delhi, June 10: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached the national capital on Thursday where he is likely to meet the BJP central leadership.
Adityanath has reached Union Home Minister Amit Shah's residence for a meeting to discuss the political situation in Uttar Pradesh. The UP Chief Minister is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday morning before calling on BJP President J.P. Nadda in the afternoon, sources said.
Preparations for next year's Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be the main agenda of Adityanath's meeting with the party's central leadership, sources said.
The sources also said that the handling of the Covid situation during the second wave of the pandemic by the Uttar Pradesh government is also likely to be discussed during the meetings.
While the state's efforts drew flak from the opposition, the BJP leadership had appreciated the works done by the UP government.
Adityanath's visit to New Delhi has fuelled speculation about the possible changes in the Uttar Pradesh cabinet and in the party structure ahead of next year's Assembly polls.
"A possible cabinet expansion or reshuffle is also likely to be discussed in the meetings. Changes in the state BJP unit are also part of the agenda in order to strengthen the party ahead of next year's Assembly elections," a party insider said.
Talks of changes are doing the rounds for the last fortnight ever since BJP national General Secretary (organisation) B.L. Santhosh and state in-charge Radha Mohan Singh visited Lucknow to review the party's preparations for next year's Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Santhosh had taken feedback from the state ministers and MLAs, which had fuelled speculation about possible changes in the party's Uttar Pradesh set up.
Sources claimed that based on the feedback collected by the central leadership, it has been decided to go for a reshuffle in the Uttar Pradesh government as well as in the party's state unit.
The sources also said that the role of former Union minister Jitin Prasada, who jumped ship from the Congress to the BJP on Wednesday, will also be discussed during Adityanath's meetings with the central BJP leadership.
A well-known Brahmin face in Uttar Pradesh, Prasada's father Jitendra Prasad was a prominent Brahmin leader in Uttar Pradesh.

Mumbai, Dec 2: Actor Jackie Shroff, who will be soon seen in the upcoming movie, ‘Mast Mein Rehne Ka’, has shared that both he and his co-star Neena Gupta come from very different schools of acting and that her sincerity rubs off on him.
‘Mast Mein Rehne Ka’ is a streaming film, written and directed by Vijay Maurya. Jackie and Neena were last seen in a short film, ‘Khujli’, eight years ago, which showcased a middle-aged couple's secret desires and hidden fantasies.
In an era where the spotlight is on emerging actors, these two veterans have managed to captivate the audience with their on-screen chemistry and camaraderie.
Speaking about working with Neena, Jackie said: “We come from two different schools of learning. She is from National school of Drama. She is a respected and celebrated artist while I've learnt my craft on the sets.
“So definitely opposites attract, I learn from her and I don’t know if there's anything she can learn from me, but, her sincerity rubs off on me.
“But when we come together on-screen we have a fabulous understanding of each other. I feel our chemistry is beautifully blended, and the audience feels it too.”
‘Mast Mein Rehne Ka’, is produced under the banner of Made in Maurya, and is based on the universal themes of second chances in love and life, forgiveness, and redemption. The narrative is a touching odyssey, illustrating the profound realisation that life is a treasure.
Neena said that she and Jackie are coming back after many years.
“After ‘Khujli’, the fifteen minute film which everybody loved, at least who ever could see it. We had a lot of fun doing that and we had more fun doing ‘Mast Mein Rehne Ka’.
“With Jackie, we are so easy with each other. We know how to improvise, we laugh and eat together. Honestly, working on this film with him was so much fun, and I look forward to engaging in more enjoyable projects with such a kind and wonderful person. It truly adds to the entire experience.”
‘Mast Mein Rehne Ka’ also stars Monika Panwar, Abhishek Chauhan, Rakhi Sawant, and Faisal Malik in pivotal roles.

Santiago, Dec 2: The Indian women's team came back from a two-goal deficit but suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat to Belgium in their third and final preliminary league match in the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2023 on Saturday.
Annu (47’, 51’) scored a brace for India after Noa Schreurs (5’) and France De Mot (42’) had given Belgium the lead. Astrid Bonami netted the winner in the 52nd minute and Belgium weathered some strong attacks by the Indian girls in the hard-fought encounter.
India quickly established a passing rhythm, applying a pressing game to exert pressure on Belgium. Despite securing an early penalty corner, India couldn't convert it into a goal.
Belgium, however, not only defended solidly to deny India an early advantage but also initiated counter-attacks. This strategy paid off when Noa Schreurs (5’) scored a remarkable field goal, granting Belgium an early lead.
With the score in their favour, Belgium intensified pressure by frequently penetrating the circle, restricting India's chances of equalising in the opening quarter, which concluded with Belgium leading 1-0.
Determined to turn the tide, India adopted an aggressive stance in the second quarter while emphasising possession. Nevertheless, Belgium's steadfast defense thwarted India's attempts, preserving their 1-0 lead at halftime as the second quarter ended goalless.
Keen to maintain their lead, Belgium prioritised ball possession in the third quarter while consistently penetrating India's circle. Despite their efforts, a remarkable save by Khushboo denied Belgium from furthering their advantage.
However, Belgium eventually broke through as France De Mot (42’) skillfully converted a penalty corner, doubling their lead. The penultimate quarter concluded 2-0 in favour of Belgium.
In the final quarter, India launched an immediate offensive, leading to their first goal of the match by Annu (47’) from a penalty corner, narrowing the deficit.
Empowered by this breakthrough, India intensified their attacks, resulting in a crucial penalty stroke that Annu (51’) calmly converted, levelling the score. But, moments later, Belgium were also awarded a penalty stroke, which was slotted past India’s goalkeeper by Astrid Bonami (52’) to put her side in front again.
Hopeful of finding the equaliser again, India attacked relentlessly and tried hard to breach Belgium's defense but couldn’t, ultimately succumbing to a 3-2 defeat.
As per the current Pool C standings, India is second on the points table with three points from as many games and a better goal difference than third-placed Germany, who have three points from two games.
