The deceased has been identified as Lily Das.
As per the report, a verbal duel erupted between Lily and her husband namely Soubhagya Das this morning over some issue and intensified subsequently. In a fit of rage the accused dragged and attacked his wife mercilessly.
After being seriously hurt in the attack Lily succumbed a few minutes later.
Some neighbour of the couple intervened into the incident and detained Soubhagya on the spot.
He was handed over to Saheed Nagar Police later in the day.
Police are quizzing the held accused to ascertain his motive behind the killing.
