The accused has been identified as Namita Patnaik. Her nativity is yet to be ascertained.
As per the report, a youth had spotted Namita while moving suspiciously in Kaunripatna village last night. She was accompanied by one Nilakantha Moharana’s three-year-old daughter.
As the concerned youth inquired about Namita’s identity and relation with the child later to which she failed to reply satisfactorily, he rescued the child and dropped at her home.
Suspecting the woman to be a child lifter the villagers detained her after reprimand and called up police.
Bolagarh Police has taken the accused into custody after finding some suspicious items from her bag, suspected to be sedatives. Her interrogation is underway.
