The identity of the girl, who was rescued by the “Patita Udhar Samiti” yesterday, was yet to be known. It is suspected that somebody has ditched the girl after keeping physical relationship with her for long.
Soon after she was rescued, the Samiti took her to a hospital for health check-up. But she was detected with pregnancy of six months. The 28-year-old girl was also found to be underweight, weighing 37 kg only. The doctor said her underweight would pose risk for her and her child in the womb.
As she did not speak, her identity couldn’t be known. She has been lodged in the BMC shelter home now.
The incident has come as another example to substantiate the NCRB report that Odisha stands number one in forcible sexual harassment to women and number two in women violence. Odisha was also rated number one in the making of defamatory video of children.
