The held poacher has been identified as Bauri Pradhan (52), a resident of Kuliatota village under Hindol Police Station.
Acting upon a tip-off on the hunting of a barking deer inside Kandhara Reserve Forest, the Forest staff launched a raid in the area. They traced Bauri in Sapua Nala while he was on a hunting spree and took him into custody.
5 kg venison, a billhook and an axe used by the accused in the hunting was seized from his possession during the raid.
Charged under the relevant Sections of Wildlife Protection Act, Bauri was produced in Hindol SDJM Court, which sent him to judicial custody.
