The accused woman has been identified as Pihu Biswas, a resident of Kolkata, West Bengal. She was arrested from Baliapanda in Puri where she was staying for last few months.
Police sources said that the accused woman allegedly befriended a youth from Bankual area in Bhubaneswar through a social media platform by introducing herself as a staff of a reputed college as well as an insurance agent.
The woman visited the youth’s house on August 15 on the pretext of availing an insurance policy. She spent the night at his house and allegedly served him prasad laced with sedatives.
When the youth fell unconscious, the accused woman ran away with Rs 10 lakh in cash, jewellery, mobile phones, ATM cards and other valuables.
Later, the victim lodged a complaint against the accused woman at Saheed Nagar police station following which she was arrested today.
Police also recovered cash and gold ornaments worth around Rs 5 lakh from her possession.
The woman is a history-sheeter. She was earlier arrested for robbing several such men within the past year, police said.
