According to the information, the tiger killed two calves near Bahari village in the Dharambandha area. The leopard entered the village under the Nuapada forest range area and dragged away the domestic animals from the shed to a distant place in the village and then mauled it to death.
Villagers knew about the incident after a few minutes and spent a sleepless night since then. On being informed by them, forest officials came to the village and advised villagers to stay indoors, while assuring them that they are watching the movement of the big cat.
Yesterday, a leopard dragged a cow away from the village and killed it.
Notably, a big cat attacked an elderly woman and fed on her flesh in another village in the district a few days back. Earlier to this, people in different villages complained to the forest officials that cows, sheep, and goats were eaten by tigers.
With incidents of tiger attacks rising, people in remote villages even fear to go outside of their houses during the daytime.
