Local MLA Rohit Pujari is in the middle of a public relation campaign to strengthen the party’s mass base, while the involvement of Rajya Sabha MP and the party’s senior leader Prasanna Acharya in the Assembly constituency is getting noticed more and more.
Acharya has allocated money from his MPLAD funds for construction of a Bhog Mandap at a local Jagannath temple and for a Kalyan Mandap in Rairakhol NAC. The Rajya Sabha MP’s frequent visits to Rairakhol have revealed his interest in the constituency.
Sources said Acharya has dropped enough hints among his followers that he will contest from the Assembly seat.
Sources have further said that Rohit’s loyalists are opposing Acharya’s frequent visits to the constituency. This is why though Rohit Pujari’s name and the name of the block chairman were there in a name plaque, the two were absent at a function.

Active BJD workers in the block and local leaders of the party also avoided the function. It is said that the local MLA had asked them not to go to the function. The Rajya Sabha MP’s frequent visits to the constituency without even holding any official positions in the party have created apprehensions in Rohit’s camp.
