Odisha sees 510 new Covid cases; 79 more in 0-18 age group infected

Out of the new 510 positive cases, 297 have been detected from among quarantined people and the rest 213 as local contacts.

Bhubaneswar, Sep 20: As many as 510 fresh Covid-19 infections were reported from 24 districts of Odisha in the last 24 hours, taking State’s tally to 10,20,754 as on Monday, according to the Information and Public Relations Department.

Odisha had reported 623 positive cases yesterday.

Out of the new 510 positive cases, 297 have been detected from among quarantined people and the rest 213 as local contacts.

Similarly, 79 more children in the age group of 0-18 years have been detected with Covid-19 infection today.

Among districts, Khurda reported highest 197 cases, followed by Cuttack 78, Balasore 33, Jagaisinghpur 22, Jajpur 22, Puri 20, Mayurbhanj 14, Ganjam 12, Bhadrak 9, Sambalpur 9, Jharsuguda 8, Gajapati 7, Kendrapara 7, Kandhamal 4, Malkangiri 4, Angul 3, Koraput 3, Rayagada 3, Sundergarh 3, Balangir 1, Boudh 1, Kalahandi 1, Keonjhar 1, and Nayagarh 1.

Besides, 47 cases were reported from the State pool.

During the period, 746 Covid patients recovered, taking the State’s total recoveries 10,07,066 and bringing down the active cases to 5,494.

A total of 1,92,56,682 Covid tests were done so far, informed the department.

Adani Stocks Outperform Nifty Over Last Seven Days

New Delhi, Dec 6: Over the past seven days, the Adani Group of Stocks has outperformed the Nifty 50. The group companies have experienced gains of between 16 per cent and 63 per cent said Vaibhav Vidwani, Research Analyst, Bonanza Portfolio.

He said that Adani Total Gas -- one stock that has more than doubled investor wealth -- has increased in value over the past seven days by more than 60 per cent.

He said that in addition, the stock has dropped the most year-to-date by as much as 70.5 per cent, and it is currently trading at a 73.65 per cent discount to its 52-week high.

He said that the Adani Power and Adani Ports, two Adani group enterprises, are near to 52-week highs during this period.

Nifty closed on a positive note, while most sectorial indices closed in the green. Nifty IT and Nifty Energy were among the outperforming sector up by 1.67 per cent and 1.55 per cent respectively.

Wipro, LTIMindtree, ITC, L&T and TC were among top gainers on the Nifty, while losers includes Adani Enterprises, Eicher Motors, Cipla, NTPC and UltraTech Cement.

Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services said post-state elections, market optimism thrives, confirming policy continuity and meeting investor expectations.

He said that a robust FII reversal is fuelled by receding inflation and dropping yields in both US and Indian markets. The allure of Indian market gains post-China credit rating downgrade and decline in oil prices was followed by ease in geopolitical tensions.

He said that a strong rebound in IT, driven by reduced US recession risks and in anticipation of robust summer demand, fuels the momentum in the power sector.

PM Modi To Inaugurate Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit On Friday

New Delhi, Dec 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday visit Dehradun to take part in the inauguration ceremony of the 'Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit 2023', an official release from the PMO said.

The event will be held at Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.
'Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit 2023' is a step towards establishing Uttarakhand as a new investment destination. The two-day summit is themed - "Peace to Prosperity".

The summit will be attended by thousands of investors and delegates from across the world. It will witness the participation of Union Ministers, Ambassadors of various countries along with leading industrialists, among others.

Earlier, on Friday, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, while addressing the Social Media Influencers Meet ahead of the Global Investors Summit, said that Uttarakhand is one of the safest states in the country in terms of law and order and is most suitable for investment.

"We went to many places in the country and abroad regarding the Investors Summit from where we got a very good response. So far investment proposals worth Rs 2 lakh crore have been signed," Dhami said, adding that the maximum focus of the state government is on employment generation.

The Uttarakhand CM, further during the Social Media Influencers Meet, called upon everyone to spread the word about this event in the country and the world through their means so that Destination Uttarakhand, Global Investors Summit becomes trending everywhere.

The Global Investors Summit is to be held in Dehradun on December 8-9. The 2-day long Investors Summit will be a platform for business delegations, corporate leaders, academia, Innovators and Government leadership from across the globe, to collectively explore business opportunities and partnerships in the state of Uttarakhand. Participation of 5,000+ delegates (both national and international) is expected at the summit.

According to the Uttarakhand Government it's 15plus investor-friendly sectoral policies, good governance initiatives, enabling regulatory environment and sustainable practices will be showcased at the Summit. Summit will also host Business-to-Business (B2B) and Government-to-Business (G2B) meetings to support and aid in better decision-making for its investors.

Janhvi took to her Instagram stories, where she shared a picture with her sister Khushi. In the image, the ‘Roohi’ actress is seen hugging her sister, who is seen wearing her mother’s dress and jewelry for the premiere of the upcoming film.

Janhvi captioned the image: “The sunshine of my life and now sunshine in cinema. You are magical.”

‘The Archies’ is directed by Zoya Akhtar. It stars Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Aditi Saigal and Yuvraj Menda. The film is scheduled for release on Netflix on 7 December 2023.
