The regional weather office has issued a red warning of heatwave conditions for Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Balongir, Jharsuguda and Bargarh.
"Day temperature likely to be 42 degrees Celsius or more at a few places over some districts of interior Odisha viz, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Jharsuguda and Bargarh. A red warning has been issued in respect of these districts," said a bulletin of the IMD.
The weather office said no large change in maximum day temperature is predicted during the next 5 days over the districts of Odisha, the regional weather office said.
It advised people to take precautionary measures while going outside during day time between 11 am and 3 pm.
It also predicted isolated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph very likely over some districts of Odisha also
Thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rain may occur in other districts of Odisha.

It also advised people to keep watch on the weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm.
