"As per records readily available with Legal Cell, IS-II Division, MHA, the proposal for issue of Letter Rogatory/Mutual Legal Assistance has not been received from Odisha Government in the Legal Cell, IS-II Division, MHA w.r.t. investigation relating to the murder of Ex-Health Minister of Odisha Naba Das," said Union Home Ministry responding to the Right To Information (RTI) query.

On February 22, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the state Crime Branch was seeking the help of the US' Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the Naba Das murder probe.
However, the RTI report exposed the blatant lie of the State government.
Noteworthy, the Legal Cell of the Union Home Ministry provides legal assistance in criminal matters to law enforcement agencies or judicial authorities in terms of Section 166-A, 166-B and Section 105 of CrPC, 1973.
