Addressing the people of the State today, the Chief Minister requested everyone to wear mask in order to contain the possible spread of the deadly virus.
“Masks are the most efficient shield in battle against the Coronavirus pandemic. People who are yet to take vaccines must put on masks where as people who have taken the vaccine should also wear masks,” said the Chief Minister.
Patnaik said that mothers should take up fight against Coronavirus from inside the house while the Government stands tall to protect everyone from the outside.
The Chief Minister also announced that the Government has doubled penalty for not wearing masks. “I have directed the police and district administrations to penalise people not wearing masks properly,” he added.
Odisha reported as many as 1282 new Covid-19 positive cases in last 24 hours taking the total number of positive cases in the State to 3,46,808, according to the State Health and Family Welfare Department.
Currently, the State has 5,941 active cases.
