Residents of Sanaphurla village under Badaphurla gram panchayat in Dharamgarh block of Kalahandi district are facing a tough time travelling on the mud and pothole-ridden road connecting to their village.
Villagers have appealed to the local administration to repair the road which is in a pathetic state, but in vain. Locals alleged that the road is in a poor state after rain caused extensive damage to it. It is very difficult and risky to commute on the road.
“When we asked the local sarpanch to repair the road she asked us to go to the Dharamgarh block office. We also urged the Dharamgarh block officials on this matter; they suggested to go to Junagarh block. We have been suffering due to lack of proper roads for over 10 years. During elections, politicians, and ministers assure us to repair the road, however, no one comes after getting votes,” said a local resident.
“I am trying to repair the road. The road turns miserable during the rainy season,” said local sarpanch Pankajini Sabar.
Even people are deprived of emergency medical services as ambulance vehicles fail to enter the villages due to poor road conditions. Mud and potholes have made commuting a nightmare for residents, local said.
Meanwhile, the locals have threatened to boycott votes if the road is not repaired soon.
