Union Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan claimed this while addressing the silver jubilee programme of the Nalco Contractual Mazdoor Association.
"During the Modi Government, the minimum wage of contractual labourers has increased and special attention has been given to their social security aspect. Training programmes have been put in place to upskill workers. The definition of labour has changed now," he said.
The Union Minister said he has been associated with the Nalco area for the last 40 years as an executive of the Mazdoor Sangha. "Besides being a worker of the BJP, I am also a worker of the Mazdoor Sangha. I hail from a labourers' area and, thus, I understand the aspect of labour well. I have always supported organisations that worked in the interest of the poor and workers," said Pradhan.

He said Mazdoor has no castes. Mazdoors belong to one caste and that is doing labour. Thus Nalco management should take care of them.
The Union Minister suggested that Nalco ensure the adequate appointment of teachers in all schools operating in the area. Buses should be put into service to transport schoolchildren from the colony. Besides, all legitimate demands of the Mazdoors need to be fulfilled by Nalco authorities at the earliest, he said.
