According to information, the Commissionerate Police has undertaken a nonstop blood donation drive in which police personnel and other people will voluntarily donate blood at the Capital Hospital here. The main objective of the drive is to provide blood to patients visiting the Capital Hospital and needing blood.
The Commissionerate Police has also decided to help dengue patients by donating platelets.
During the last two days, 34 police officers have donated platelets. Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi is leading the drive.
Today, a child, who was critically ill, got platelet and got her life saved, thanks to the Commissionerate police for saving the tiny child’s life.
The child, Rohit Kumar Das of Bhadrak, was found dengue-infected on August 30. He was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. The platelet level was down in him. After getting infused with platelet donated by a police officer, his life was saved.
The police have collected as many as 27,500 blood units by conducting donations camps in the last few months, according to sources.
