Cuttack district administration has announced the closure of all government and private educational institutions in the district after 2 pm on Wednesday in view of the opening ceremony. Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani made the announcement about the closure of all government and private educational institutions.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted good news for sports enthusiasts as it said they can witness the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela without the weather turning into a spoilsport.
In a special bulletin for the Hockey World Cup, the IMD on Tuesday said the sky will be mostly clear in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Rourkela in the coming days. Even though the early phase of the day will be slightly foggy, the skies will open up as the day progresses.
This will create a perfect pitch for the scheduled matches in the respective places in Odisha. What is more exciting is the IMD’s forecast that there is no prediction of rain-related activities in the state till January 14, 2023.
“Minimum temperature (night temperature) is likely to rise gradually by 3 to 4 degree Celsius during the next three days and there will be no large change thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha,” said IMD.
The Hockey World Cup is slated to begin on January 13 and will be played at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela. The tournament will continue till January 29, 2023.
