After a Herculean effort of almost 19 hours the Fire Services personnel traced the body of the victim identified as Jyotiprakash Behera from a canal located in Panchasakha Nagar in the city, says report.
The body of the deceased was spotted trapped in the bushes. It appeared from the circumstantial evidence that heavy flow of water due to rain swept the body into bushes resulting in the victim’s unfortunate death.
Notably, Jyotiprakash who lived in Dhipasahi of Baramunda area left for Tuition classes in Soubhagya Nagar area at around 2 pm on Monday. While his mother cautioned him over the waterlogging in the area due to heavy rain, he assured him to take care of the same and promised to return soon.
But destiny had something else in store for the victim as he was swept away into the drain near Siripur area by slipping off the bicycle due to heavy water flow on the road.
Death of Jyotiprakash has sparked resentment among the denizens in the city who have come down heavily upon the BMC over mismanagement of drainage system as well tardy or no action to solve water logging issue.
