“We have got tokens to sell paddy at the Mandi, but the Government is taking any crop from us. Many farmers have also not received token yet. Despite our repeated approaches, the Sub-Collector has not taken any action. With no option left, we have been forced to lock the Mandi,” said agitating farmers.
Some expressed unhappiness over delay in paddy procurement. “We have incurred huge amounts of loans for undertaking cultivation. If our produces are not procured in time, how can repay loan and feed our family,” said a disgusted farmer.
Many also said that any further delay in paddy procurement will encourage farmers to commit suicide in order to get relief from loan burden and penury.
