According to sources, Bidya Bharati, accompanied by her father, reached the SFSL here this morning. She underwent the polygraph test for nearly four hours in connection to the mysterious death of her husband Soumya Ranjan, a 2020 batch Odisha Forest Service officer.
Though details of the lie-detection test were not disclosed, Bidya Bharati broke down in tears following the polygraph test, sources said.
Earlier on September 18, the State probing agency conducted lie detection test of Paralakhemundi Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sangram Keshari Behera and Cook Manmath Kumbha in connection to ACF’s death case.
On the night of July 12, Soumya Ranjan was rescued with over 90 per cent burn injuries from his official residence in Paralakhemundi. Only his wife Bidya Bharati was present at the residence during the incident.
Soumya Ranjan was initially admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Paralakhemundi. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital at Cuttack where he succumbed the next day.
Soumya’s father Abhiram Mohapatra lodged an FIR against Bidya Bharati, DFO Behera and the cook alleging that the trio is behind the ACF’s death.
A case under sections 302 and 120 (b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Paralakhemundi police station.
As the mystery of ACF’s death remained unsolved even after a month, the case was handed over to the Odisha Crime Branch.
