Addressing a Press meet at the party headquarters here, Mohanty said despite being named in FIR in the Mahanga double murder case, Minister Jena is allowed to share stage with the Chief Minister. “A local court has directed to submit re-investigation report and the call detail record (CDR) but the Mahanga IIC is not following the orders. Police's hands have been tied and the Law Minister is trying to settle the case for his own protection,” Mohanty said.
He further alleged that the Chief Minister is also protecting Jena even though he is involved in the reported Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scam.
“According to the Telecommunications norms, if phone call record is not stored within one year, it will be deleted automatically. The Government is trying to settle the case by taking more times to submit the CDR,” Mohanty added.
The BJP State chief also hit out at Mahanga IIC saying, “Investigating officer Nihar Ranjan Mohanty has disobeyed the Court’s order, which implies that he is taking protecting steps at the behest of Minister Jena.”
“Who has stopped the Chief Minister from coming to the Assembly and who has tied the hands of the police to take action against the Law Minister,” Mohanty wanted to know and pooh-poohed the CM’s claim that all culprits to be punished in all cases. “Has the CM’s much-propagated claim been proved in the Mahanga Murder case?” Mohanty asked futher.
The people of the State are waiting for the answer from the CM, he added.
