“The ruling BJD and main Opposition BJP members are the two sides of a coin. Both are trying to stall the proceedings of the House. However, we will continue to protest in the House till paddy are procured from farmers at different mandis across the State,” said Bahinipati outside the House.
"The State Government has cheated people by not lifting the paddy from different mandis despite a decision taken in the all party meeting and assurance by the Minister in this regard during the first phase of the Budget Session," he added.
“I humbly request the Speaker to call an all-party meeting and ensure smooth conduct of business in the House,” said the Congress legislator.
The House has been facing disruption since the beginning of the second leg of the Budget session from Friday raising slogans against the State Government over alleged non-procurement of paddy of farmers from across the State.
Today, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings of the House first till 11.30 AM and later till 4 PM. The House couldn’t also function properly on the first and second day due to the noisy protest by the Opposition members.
The second leg of the Budget Session of the assembly is scheduled to continue till April 9. The first phase the Session had ended on February 27.
