Bhubaneswar, March 16: Opposition BJP and Congress on Thursday targeted the State government as the latter has planned to conduct a survey of the social and educational conditions of people from backward classes from May 1. The exercise will continue till May 27.
“OBC census is a farce. The government won’t do a door-to-door campaign for the survey. A camp will be set up and people will have to register themselves at the camp. Is it a survey?” questioned Leader of Opposition Jayanarayan Mishra.
Slimily, the Congress hit out at the BJD-government and dubbed it as politically motivated. “The State government is carrying out the survey keeping the 2024 election in mind. This survey is drama and farce. The State has 45 per cent OBC people. The BJD will lose its vote banks if these people are not appeased,” said Congress MLA Suresh Kumar Rourtay.
Meanwhile, the BJD has refuted all the allegations made by the opposition parties.
“The government is working for the development of the backward class people,” said BJD MLA Sashi Bhusan Behera.
