A committee headed by Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra visited the sites on Wednesday. Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) Chairman Asit Tripathy and Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian were other members of the panel.
“The two temples are important tourist and spiritual places of Odisha having tremendous potential to be developed as a part of major tourist circuit. This historic site is closely associated with the social, cultural and spiritual life of the region. Pilgrims and tourists from the State and beyond visit in large numbers especially during important festivals. The transformational project has been planned on the advice of the Chief Minister,” said an official release.
The project will include beautification, pilgrim amenities, approach roads, tourist facilities, trekking routes, feasibility of ropeway, facilities for marriage halls, water conservation features etc. Reputed Professsional teams will be assigned for preparing the master plan for the two temple areas, it added.
The committee along with Water Resources Principal Secretary Anu Garg visited the Lower Suktel Irrigation Project at Magurbeda and reviewed its status. The committee directed that all the issues, including land acquisition, should be resolved and the project execution should be expedited.
