“The PCC president gets changed every two to three years and there is a need for change in Odisha Congress leadership. After the party’s defeat in recently concluded rural and urban elections, there are discussions in this regard, the party will benefit as soon as it will get a new chief,” he said.
Patnaik further said that the wrong people will spread the wrong message. “Change in PCC chief is not new, it is party’s internal matter,” the OPCC president said.
“The All India Congress Committee (AICC) will take a call on change in Odisha Congress leadership and the party has enough eligible candidates for the post. The AICC should name someone who can lead the party and I will extend all my support to the new PCC chief,” Patnaik added.
On the other hand, Congress MLA Mohammed Moqium today said that the Odisha Congress chief will be changed within one month.
The demand for a change in the president's post has intensified following the poor performance of the party in the recently held rural and urban elections. Patnaik had resigned from the post of OPCC president following the party’s debacle in the 2019 General Elections. However, his resignation was not accepted by the high command.
